What I Did

Thanks to those who posted comments, emailed me and called me on my previous post.  It's a good thing to hear people's opinions, and more importantly, to help me feel like I did the right thing years ago by taking my friendship from someone who didn't deserve it.

As far as what I did:  well, because my curiosity will always get the best of me, I accepted the friend request, then I searched her page for details of what had been going on.  Finding nothing and feeling pretty satisfied, I deleted her as my friend a few minutes later.  No harm, no foul, and of course, my curiosity is satisfied and I know she's not all in my page, finding out what's been going on in my life.

And, now, onto more important things - like baking cookies!

Anna,

Think of the favor she did (by stabbing you in the back)
You would never had met Mike and not have Patrick!
They are the true loves in your life and make eveything else seem pettyl.
Love,
Jacky

That was a great idea. I would have been very curious too of course. :) That way, she'll probably get e-mails that you accepted and then changed your mind.

I like what you did, although, I don't know how Facebook works with accepting friends, etc (I'm not on there)...anyway, seems to me that you are WAY better off without her in your life :) No drama needed!

Oy vey! Just catching up on blogs...
I think Jacky's perspective is interesting. I remember this sermon that a pastor gave on the role of Judas Iscariot and whether or not he truly betrayed Jesus, because his role was necessary in order for Jesus to save the world. I think it is a beautiful idea - that the ugly people/memories in our life serve a purpose to move us forward in God's plan for us.
That said, once those people serve their purpose, I think that it is wise to leave them in the past, where their work was done. They are not meant to stay with us.
Good job deleting her - I suspect it was somewhat cathartic...perhaps that was what you needed?
